New Altus for Women Reading Groups Forming!

Do you wish you knew more about your Catholic faith? Does your faith need refreshing? Would you like to meet other women of faith for support and encouragement? This fall, join women all over the Diocese meeting in small groups to read and discuss the book Walking with Purpose by Lisa Brenninkmeyer. Sometimes life gets “stuck on the spin cycle.” Drawing from her own experience of balancing marriage, motherhood, and work, Lisa helps uncover the key to living a busy life with inner calm. Learn how to experience joy and contentment when we give our all to what God considers most important. The abundant and purposeful life we were created to live is just around the corner!
Reading Groups are sponsored by Altus for Women, a Catholic women’s ministry in partnership with the Diocese of Scranton’s Office for Parish Life. Altus Reading Groups will meet for 8 sessions from September 27th through November 15th. Please contact (Eileen Gallik, 570-253-4561, eileen.stjohns@gmail.com) for information about the meeting time and location for St. John the Evangelist’s Altus Group.  The cost of the study is $35 (which includes your book and study guide). Online registration/payment opens August 28th at www.altusforwomen.com. Please join us!

Our Lady of Fatima 100th Anniversary

On Saturday, May 13, the 100th Anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady of Fatima to the three children, thousands of cities and towns across America will hold “Public Square” Rosary Rallies to honor Our Lady’s Fatima Message to pray the rosary.  We will have a special Mass at 11:00 am at St. Mary Magdalen,  followed by a “Public Square” Rosary Rally from Noon-2 pm in Central Park, Honesdale. (Due to the impending inclement weather, we will be staying at St. Mary Magdalen Church) A decade of each of the four mysteries of the Rosary will be led by our parishioners.  Please make every effort to join us.
