Service to our Parish and Community

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Please check out everything happening in our parish here

You may recall that last week I brought to your attention all of the immediate maintenance needs of our churches.  I must say I was joyfully surprised that we have had a very rapid response. So far four major donations have come!  Two for $1,000 and one for $4,000 and one for $350.  In my name and that of all our parishioners, I extended a heartfelt thanks for your most generous gifts in helping us meet our goals.

Of course, the nature of the repairs will indeed be many more thousands of dollars. At this time I can only give rough estimates since we do not have all bids in. Therefore, I ask your continued cooperation and good will in helping us meet these pressing needs.

This weekend we welcome the Little Sisters of the Poor for their annual visit to beg for the needs of the elderly poor.  My association with these blessed sisters goes back to my high school years when my mother was one of their cooks and I would go over to then, the Maloney Home, and wash big pots for my mom.  All these years I have seen up close what these good sisters do for the elderly, sick and infirm.  Please be generous to them as they greet you upon leaving Mass.

This Saturday evening we have our annual Spaghetti Dinner.  Many of our parishioners, young, old and in between have worked hard to put on this scrumptious meal.  Please support them with your attendance or take-out this evening.

Father Reichlen and I will be concelebrating the 10:00 AM Mass in our Cathedral this morning, Sun., Sept. 28, with Bishop Bambera as he inducts into candidacy for Holy Orders those aspiring to the Diaconate.  From our parish Paul Cooper and Robert Warnock will be making this important step.  Let us assist them with our prayers and fraternal support.

      With Blessings,

Father Langan
